Burned fingertips...
Oct. 6th, 2003 05:40 pmUm, literally.
Our plates have been used in the microwave for several years with no problem, until just a few minutes ago, when I burned the fingertips on my right hand picking one up after a 3-minute session on high. I didn't try to tough out the heat; I dropped the plate, breaking it. My fingertips have been pretty much in ice water ever since, and most of the damage seems to be on the middle two fingers, where I can see/feel/sense blisters under the surface.
Typing is not fun with such fingers, so it's a good thing, I suppose, that I finished the job due tomorrow a couple of hours ago. When dealing with things such as this post, I'm intermittently dipping my fingertips in ice water next to my keyboard until they get numb, then I wipe them gingerly with towel and go back to typing.
Napping was impossible, due to a series of phone calls, but I did very nearly lose consciousness, which may count as a mini-nap. Then I went and tried to use the microwave...(sigh).
Talking about plates, left on the ol' work plate is: a review of the items due tomorrow and some editing left over from last week. Plus a list of minor annoyances, which I'll skip the details of as my fingers seek the ice water.
Cheers...
