Going home!
Jan. 15th, 2004 10:50 amIn the end, I chose not to work last night. My heart simply wasn't in it. I spent time getting my stuff together and paid half my attention to an anime that Natalie was watching, called Super Gals. In watching the animation, there were moments where I clearly felt the heavy (preachy) hand of the writers, ostensibly giving good advice to adolescent girls (which I presume is the target audience). But if the advice has the power to improve the life of a viewer, I wondered what effect the behavior of the person delivering that advice might have. Said person's solution to many of life's problems appears to involve physical violence, and while I am far from being a pacifist, I'm not at all sure that this combination of wise words and what would normally be devastating kicks in real life is good.
I did put a 1500-word dent in the item (now) due tomorrow morning. That leaves a bit less than 2000 words plus five diagrams, which is a bit more than I feel comfortable doing on the plane for a first time trial (my translation in the boarding area on the way down here was a first; so will my working on the plane going home).
The FedEx with my passport made it to its intended destination this morning. (Halleluliah!)
More work is entering the translation pipeline, too.
Now I have to go and finalize my packing. I leave for the airport in about half and hour.
Cheers...
