What's next? Patenting money?

From a post at Slashdot:
Sun Files For Patent on Software Licensing Method

[...] The pricing patent application was summarized: 'Method for licensing software to an entity, including determining a per-employee cost for the software, determining a number of employees of the entity, and determining a total licensing cost using the number of employees and the per-employee cost, wherein the total licensing cost comprises a software license for all employees of the entity and all customers of the entity.' [...]
So, now we're patenting marketing techniques? Heck, at least Amazon's bogus "one-click shopping" patent relied on the use of a mouse and a computer.

Ye gods.

Cheers...

Tired...

I worked the store with Drew today, with a short break to go home to deliver a take-out lunch. After work, I went to the auto parts store in town and picked up about $50 of various stuff to help make the car run better.

Over the past few months, the Civic has been emitting white smoke from time to time; I can't put my finger on the rhyme or reason. Mostly, it occurs during acceleration, while changing gears. But when the engine is under load -- climbing a hill, for example -- I can't see any smoke. Hoping it's perhaps some gunk built up in the engine and not something that will require an expensive repair.

Once I got home, I washed the car for real, as I intend to do a little touch-up painting before hitting the road.

In preparation for my wiki presentation, I've moved my office Twiki install to the Zaurua. Next step: make it work. Then: use sed to eliminate "proprietary" information (e.g., names of clients, contacts).

Cheers...
