Also, there's an instructive set of pages on learning to draw at Michael Erickson's Visual Practitioner web site (which I plan to look at later).
A somewhat ambitious text can be found at How to Make a Complete Map of Every Thought You Think, which meanders a lot in the part I've read so far, but may have some interesting ideas later in the book (131 PDF pages is a book, right?).
Finally, at 43 Folders, there's an revolutionary design proposed for a PDA:
