The contract that has made my life miserable the past few days is done.

That's the good news.

Now, I have to review it. (Draw your own conclusions as to what kind of news that might be!)

Moreover, there's a pile of other stuff to do today.

(*) Review/deliver contract translation.

(*) Invoice a number of translations.

(+) Process/return Houston listing agreements to Galina

( ) Meet with bookkeeper. (+ Reschedule. Bookeeper not in office at appointed time.)

(*) Submit ATA presentation proposals for at least the SLD business meeting and conference wrap-up.

( ) Work on a "resume" for my LLC that goes beyond just my skills. (* Do this over the weekend.)

( ) Resume the usual stuff (paper chase, maintenance)

Le sigh.

Cheers...

I recall this one with bittersweet happiness (as I'm about to ship it off):
Despite other provisions contained in Article 19, the Parties have clearly agreed to not allow any exemption from liability by parties that are exempting from liability, with respect to parties that are being exempted from liability, with regard to losses inflicted by the performance, by the Party being exempted from liability, of its duties under the Contract.
Yikes!

Herewith, the abstract of my proposed session at the ATA Conference in Seattle in November:
Max Otto von Shtirlitz, hero of the 1973 classic Soviet serial "Seventeen Moments of Spring," lives on in the curious phenomenon of the "Shtirlitz joke." This no-words-barred session intends to show how a study of such humor can give native English-speakers an edge, enjoyably acquired, in understanding the kind of language – slang, jargon, and cant – that one won't find in textbooks or newspapers, allowing one to better hold one's own in conversations with native speakers and to develop an enhanced feel for what is considered funny in Russian culture.
Will TPTB let this one fly? Qui sait?

Cheers...
