Progress...
Jan. 29th, 2006 01:04 pmThe struggle against the drain was interrupted yesterday after only the second load of hot water, as it takes a lot of melted snow to fill up the canner (and in any event, Galina announced she wanted to go out to eat, which is not an announcement a guy like me can easily ignore). This morning, we sent a third load of water down the pipe, and... the system backed up into the shower pan.
Disappointed, I accompanied Galina to the store to bring home some water (from the tap there) and then returned to the house, sat down in my office, and did one of the translations due tomorrow. Then I went downstairs to restoke our wood-burning stove.
The water had drained from the shower pan!
True, I can see the top of the water in the drain, but the water went somewhere. I'm hoping it's towards the septic tank. I am currently working on putting together another load of hot water to see if this phenomenon repeats.
In other news, I got my hands on a WRT54GL (technically, a WRT54G, v4) to replace the router that seems to require a daily reboot in order for me to connect to the 'net. I've already flashed the DD-WRT firmware into the unit and I'm really impressed with the capabilities of the software.
However, I can't spend much time now examining the ins and outs of the code; I need to finish one more document and then devote some more time to the plumbing issue.
Cheers...
