Trying to settle down and work...
May. 6th, 2006 07:36 pmAfter nearly a full day at the store yesterday, I could not stand the idea of sitting in front of the monitor and belting out any translation. Instead, I watched the first two episodes of Master and Margarita (lent to me by Feht when he stopped by yesterday) and went to sleep.
I spent the full day at the store today, and between customers, I set up my VAIO and did a 1500-word first-draft of a French-to-English job using OpenOffice under Ubuntu. I kept getting tripped up by the fact that Ctrl+Shift+Arrow doesn't highlight text words, but aside from that, everything seemed to go fairly well. The translation is not complete, but I don't think it's going to take much to finish it.
OTOH, after bringing home Misha while the kids went to Durango, I have not been able to screw up the resolve to again sit down at the machine. This post will, hopefully, help put me back In The Mood™, otherwise, my grand scheme to do 3,000 source words every day starting today and running through Tuesday is going to be in for a little, um, reassessment.
