I managed to get up on time, which must be some kind of miracle, because yesterday after my shift was over, I started reading Robert Ludlum's The Bourne Identity, just to get an idea of just how much better the book is than the movie. (That movies are invariably inferior to the books they are based upon is no longer an article of faith; it's more like the assertion that no two people share the same fingerprints.)

The rest is a blur, except for dinner and the table tennis session with Olga. Despite the fact I am a fast reader, I still had a considerable way to go as of 11 pm last night, and still some left when whatever is left of my good sense kicked in at 12:49 am to say, "Enough!"

Talk about your basic, calibrated, Mark-One "can't-put-it-down" page-turner!

I have been here since shortly before six, having been exposed to a marvelous red sky in the east just before sunrise. Through the backlit clouds, you could see it was raining off in the distance. Right now, though, there doesn't seem to be a cloud in the sky - at least not visible from my office window.

We have been lucky with the weather so far this campaign. Temperatures have been moderate for July during the day, and downright chilly at night (almost uncomfortably so). I certainly hope the weather remains nice today, as I'm scheduled to support some fiber-optics ops out at the pad.

Cheers...
