Seven hours to go...
Aug. 7th, 2006 09:23 amI'm in packing mode, finally.
Last night, I joined in a friendly game downstairs but my heart wasn't in it and my play reflected it, so I quit early and went back to my room and continued to read Gresham's The Pelican Brief. Interestingly enough, so far the book is not very much different from the movie, except for its more pronounced depiction of the people in power as Republicans (surprise!). I might finish it on the plane to Moscow, or I may try to finish it before we leave.
I put the book down around 11 pm, as I was not feeling sleepy at all, and proceeded to watch DOOM, which had arrived at the hotel in a huge box of DVDs that had been at the Kometa for the duration of the campaign. I didn't expect much from the movie, and I was not disappointed.
We're scheduled to be wheels-up at 4 pm, which ought to put us back in Moscow at around 5 pm Moscow time (it's about a 3-hour flight). Folks've been commenting on the unusually low temperatures in Moscow recently (15-18°C), but I don't think the trend will last. I'll spend the night at the Marriott and try to arrange for my taxi driver e-mail penpal to take me out to Alla's, and return my wallet.
I also should finalize arrangements to visit some prospective clients, but I suppose I can do that once I get into town.
Back to packing.
Cheers...
