Where did the day go?
Aug. 20th, 2006 09:06 pmIt went mostly toward cleaning up the basement, which is not really the case, as there was little cleaning "up" (though there was a significant number of books placed in boxes). Although there are a number of books I am convinced I can live without, most of what I have accumulated over the years still tugs at the heartstrings, either as something I want to read again (The Collected Stories of Philip K. Dick), something I might either read or sell (a box of non-fiction books related to World War II, including My Three Years With Eisenhower and The Goebbels Diaries), or something I might refer to in the future (cookbooks, dictionaries, travel books, computer how-tos).
Galina and I went to the store in the middle of the day. I finished sorting a tub of third-class mail and Galina packed most of a pile of stuff that some tourists dropped off yesterday, the packing and shipping charge for which I eyeballed (with some room to spare). I just have to keep in mind that there's a mere five more days left of full-bore business, and then a week of sorting mail and selling postage. Working on any translations during this coming week will be difficult, but we'll see.
Cheers...
