The folks we rent the copier from came by to reclaim the unit today. Good riddance, I say, as selling copies has never contributed much to the bottom line, and if one takes into consideration the extra nuisance associated with the machine, having it in the store - while "necessary" - has been a drain on overall resources.

Today was our last day of processing UPS and FedEx, in theory. I went to the City Market and made Yet Another Sign informing people of what's going on, if only because making and posting the thing made me feel marginally better. I still recall the time Drew put up something like ten notices, posted on the front door, along the approach to the counter, and on each side of the cash register to the effect that postal sales would not occur owing to the day being a Federal Holiday, which did very little to stem the tide of folks who, navigating the gamut of signs, expressed shock and sometimes a little outrage that postage was not on sale.

But I'm beginning to sound like a broken record, so rather than tell the tale of the tourist who left the store rather than shell out $1 a page for an incoming fax - oops, I just told it - I'm just going to shut up about it.

Still, about the only memories I'll be taking from the place will be of the weird, the strange, and the unreasonable. I wonder if it's like this in all retail environments? I suppose not.

Daily rain continues, which bodes well for Sunday's mushroom hunt. Drew ought to be back from Denver tomorrow and he'll be starting his 30-day probationary period with UPS on Monday.

Cheers...
