Bouncing along...
Dec. 25th, 2006 07:29 pmWe did go to the kids' place last night for dinner, and I got my first eyeful of Matthew.
He is, of course, cuter than anything. For being all of 10 weeks old, and given his current vocabulary, he is also a pretty good conversationalist.
In any event, we agreed to reconvene this morning at around 10 am to exchange presents, and said good night.
Galina was up before I was this morning. Natalie was the slug-a-bed of the family. By the time we got all the presents wrapped this morning, we were not only late getting out the door, but there were too many presents piled up to conveniently take out to the car in one or two trips, so I quickly unlimbered a red-and-white bedcovering, stacked the presents in the middle, took up the corners, hoisted the improvised sack over my shoulder, and did the Santa Claus thing out to the car. I repeated the move when we got to Drew and Shannon's place, and soon, we were all down to the serious business of opening presents.
The big winner in that category, of course, was Huntür, and while she was counting coup on all the stuff that Santa had dropped off, I did a slideshow of the shots in my Flickr account for Drew and Shannon. Afterward, I joined in a couple of games of "Go Fish," until we all decided to adjourn until later in the afternoon, as everyone has been invited to Shannon's parents' house for dinner.
Dinner was well attended, and Shannon's folks never want for a crowd in the house, both because their kids have a lot of kids and because they invite friends and neighbors over as well. Most of the guys were clustered around the television, watching the game between Philadelphia and Dallas, while most of the kids were gathered around the kitchen table, singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus.
Natalie is staying over at the kids' place tonight, as the connectivity there is better. Using my BlackBerry, she was able to download only one "patch" to the WoW that she installed on proust before we left Texas. (She told me it was over 400-MB in size... which meanders beyond the bounds of a "patch" in my book,... I mean, that's a whole new application!) Perhaps tonight she'll get the rest of the updates and then get down to some serious gaming!
As for myself, despite the fact that it's early, I'm pretty tired. Maybe it's the altitude, I don't know. I think I'll take it easy tonight. For some reason, I get the feeling that the next four days are going to go by pretty quickly.
Cheers...
