Nut nailed...
Feb. 18th, 2007 01:07 pmWith the exception of the obligatory review, the items due tomorrow are finished! (Not a bad three days of effort, and I can't complain too much about the payday.)
My dad loves cable TV, but can't really stand to watch anything on it, aside from the news. The last few times I've been here, any and all movies that we've tried to watch (I try to watch; he heckles) end up with him retiring for the evening, leaving me up in the den with the TV.
Last night, after he'd left - he actually retires for the evening pretty early no matter what's on TV - and I sat watching Independence Day (with all of its warts, plot implausibilities, and so on... there are a few golden moments), I fielded a call from the wife of an elderly couple that have been one of my parents' few true-blue friends over the years (they attended my mom's funeral last September).
Apparently, they've been coming over from time to time since my mom died to see how my dad is doing, and were calling to "warn" him that they were going to stop by tomorrow. Instead they got me, and I assured them I'd pass the message on to my dad. (I dared not!)
Anyway, I'm glad I got through the translation before they got here. Now, I can concentrate on company, and maybe even relax for the rest of the day.
Cheers...
