I had resigned myself to perhaps joining the ATA Energy Conference at its periphery, say, by showing up in the evenings to socialize with acquaintances, but a good, hard look at the dates of the Conference and the those on my MSR work assignment show that I could finish my assignment and still attend the conference, if I am willing to walk around tired on Friday, perhaps catching a catnap somewhere to tide me over?
Of course, this will play merry hell with Galina's desire to put an end to the paper chase, but then again, it might be a good opportunity to get some useful information (the event blurb says this conference will offer "advanced-level education"), and maybe even a new client or two.
Speaking of new clients, I just got the specs on an intriguing interpretation assignment, for which I am not really suited for three reasons:
in addition to interpretation skills, it requires translation into Russian
it requires going in-house to become an employee
the description makes it sound like it's going to be physically demanding (I was surprised not to read: "Navy SEAL experience a plus")
I hit the sack a little after 9 am this morning and got up at around 3:30 pm, which ought to make me good to go for this evening's shift. Galina is out somewhere, so I better make some good use of my time between now and the time she comes back and I spring my harebrained idea about conference attendance on her.
Cheers...
