If nothing else (and this is not the case), Shiloh makes a marvelous - and irresistable - alarm clock, which got me up at 6:30 am. At around 10, I called Galina, who was about to get on I-45, coming south, near the thriving metropolis of Ennis, Texas, which placed her about 4 hours away.

By 1 pm, Natalie and I had vacuumed, washed, dusted, swept, etc. and I took a nap. As a result of the general cleanup, I can actually see an area of desktop in my office that measures in the tens of square inches!

When I awoke, Galina had just arrived (what a nice wake-up!). We all had lunch, which was a serving of Bear Creek soup augmented with nearly as much additional water as called for on the package (12 cups instead of 7), some sautéd ground beef, and some canned tomato-and-green-chile (two 10-oz. cans, for future reference), but Galina still felt pangs of hunger, so after a while, we all took a spin in Natalie's new car over to the Einstein bagelry, where we loaded up on starchy goodness (with asiago cheese on top) for tomorrow morning.

I guess the excitement must have gotten to me (or maybe it was the heat, as I tried to teach Shiloh to retrieve a thrown object) because I took to the mattress for a second time late in the afternoon, getting up around 7 pm. Two naps in one day is, if memory serves, a first for me, but I'm not going to get wrapped around the axle about what it may imply unless this starts becoming a common occurrence.

By the time I finally got around to translating - about an hour ago - it had gotten pretty late, but then again, I ought to be well-rested. The ladies are in the living room catching up and watching the tube, while here in my space, I have Meczyslaw Horszowski tickling the ivories in the background.

I have just under 6000 words of my primary assignment left, along with about 1200 words of a secondary assignment. If push comes to shove, I can defer some of my primary assignment to Monday morning, since the secondary assignment is due in Moscow by Monday morning (i.e., my Sunday night), while the primary is due here locally at 10 am, but any such thoughts must be relegated to "Plan B" status.

Back to the face!

Cheers...
