Most clients have a basic, common-sense approach to invoicing that involves a minimum of paper-shuffling, meaning that a reference to a purchase order or work order is sufficient, and in some cases, isn't even necessary. Some organizations, however, do require the return of work authorizations for specific jobs, which at least is explainable by the fact that a non-repetitive, job-related notation must be made on the authorization.

What really chafes, however, are the clients who require a signature on a work order, as a sort of formal acceptance of work, I suppose, who consistently send such work orders after the translation has been delivered.

The good news is, however, that I've reduced the number of steps required to handle such invoices, though the process still involves a printer and a scanner.

But I'll take it.

Natalie's friend from Canada arrives tomorrow, and Wednesday, they take off for Austin, where Natalie will take part - or prepare to take part - in a medical study having to do with wisdom teeth and their removal. On Thursday, they will head West, intending to pass through Roswell, New Mexico on the way to Pagosa. Lili will be left to my tender mercies in the interim.

I took Shiloh for a walk this morning, with no incident. However, examining her ears a few minutes ago revealed some possible ear mites, which have since been dealt with using a Q-tip immersed in vodka (what a way to go!). I am preparing to hit the ol' hay, after having put a reasonable dent in cleanup operations in my office (along with moving some furniture around).

A bit earlier in the day, it occurred to me that I had no clear recollection of when it was that our previous dog, Ming, died. My overall impression was that it occurred recently, but not during this past winter. I recall it was cold outside, and that we were in Pagosa.

After searching through my posts for the winter of 2005-2006, it was clear that his passing did not occur at that time, either. In the end, tt turned out Ming died in early December 2004. (Moreover, Natalie's dog, Sasha, died a couple of days short of the Fourth of July the year before, or about half my LJ "lifetime" ago.)

It's been a long time, and yet again a short one. I miss those guys, and I love little Shiloh.

Cheers...
