If 90% of life is showing up, I'm 90% of the way home.

During the course of this trip, I saw my dad ping-pong his way among several healthcare facilities. When I came, he was in the hospital recovering from one thing, and now he's in the same hospital recovering from another, with a few procedures pushed onto the stack while various bacteria get expunged and his body regains some strength.

My dad has thanked me several times for all I've done, but I guess apart from just "being there," I don't think I've really done much at all. I wish I could have done more... which is the story of my life, I guess.

It took me quite a while yesterday to go through each room, eliminating any traces of my (or Shiloh's) passage. The vacuuming job I did would not have passed muster back when I was in high school, but that's life. The way I look at it, there's less dust lying around than before.

There is no time to dawdle. I want to get on the other side of Manhattan before the morning rush starts.

I'm off! With any luck, I'll be holing up for the night somewhere in Tennessee.

Cheers...

After driving 1000+ miles today, I was hoping tomorrow would be a 10-hour milk run to Houston.

It doesn't look like it's going to develop that way. Storm Humberto is poised to drop a lot of water in these parts.

I guess I'll just sleep on it.

Cheers...
