Heading home...
Sep. 12th, 2007 04:16 amIf 90% of life is showing up, I'm 90% of the way home.
During the course of this trip, I saw my dad ping-pong his way among several healthcare facilities. When I came, he was in the hospital recovering from one thing, and now he's in the same hospital recovering from another, with a few procedures pushed onto the stack while various bacteria get expunged and his body regains some strength.
My dad has thanked me several times for all I've done, but I guess apart from just "being there," I don't think I've really done much at all. I wish I could have done more... which is the story of my life, I guess.
It took me quite a while yesterday to go through each room, eliminating any traces of my (or Shiloh's) passage. The vacuuming job I did would not have passed muster back when I was in high school, but that's life. The way I look at it, there's less dust lying around than before.
There is no time to dawdle. I want to get on the other side of Manhattan before the morning rush starts.
I'm off! With any luck, I'll be holing up for the night somewhere in Tennessee.
Cheers...
