I'm in what's turning out to be a recurring pre-move depression, as unwelcome surprises of various kind come up. The latest has to do with transporting a mattress, box spring, and recliner up to Natalie's apartment. They all fit nicely in the 16-foot truck we rented earlier today, and I find it takes only between an eighth and a quarter of a tank to do the round trip.

Now, Galina is making noise about putting some of our stuff in storage, because the truck - which she deemed more than adequate for our needs before we rented it - won't, she now feels, hold everything we need to take. Logic dictates that, if we pursue this course, loading the truck for the move won't happen until we've loaded - and unloaded - the stuff to be stored. Ye gods.

My best client loaded me down with new assignments that will keep me busy, but at the cost of relieving me of the big job already on my plate (then again, radiation medicine is not my subject of choice, so it's good riddance...), and let me tell you, figuring out when I can do them so as to both accomplish the move and make the stated deadlines was a pretty neat trick. Yet translation deadlines, as is the case with time and tide, tarrieth no man, so any disruption to (what I understood to be) the schedule is only bad news.

The house is starting to look empty-er, but still isn't shipshape. I seem to recall from previous moves that "empty" only occurs after the truck is packed, anyway.

I'm tired. Sleep beckons.

Cheers...
