Progress, sort of...
Nov. 20th, 2007 01:13 pmInterruptions were frequent this morning, and for a while, I despaired of finishing the translation due tomorrow. As it is, I'm going to want to sit down tomorrow morning and give the text another look. In the meantime, a short, 337-word item came in that I dispatched with relative ease, and even manged to polish. Go figure.
The client for this evening's gig sent along a set of annual reports for me to review in preparation for the event. Let me tell you that no expense was spared in putting together these documents; they are not merely other-language versions of each other. They reflect a level of seriousness that tells me I need to settle down and spend the next hour with my eyeballs glued to the fine print.
Tonight's event is in Manhattan promises to be a doozy. I got a call yesterday from an interpreter who mentioned my boss' name and indicated that we'd be working together (which was confirmed by my boss), but as the details of what we'll be doing appear to be unavailable, I'm largely in the dark. It's also not clear what arrangements there are for parking near the meeting venue; I'm going to assume there are garages, and hope these aren't the kind that require you to take a loan on your home's equity in order to park your wheels for a few hours.
Given how much was spent on the annual report, though, I should have no trouble getting reinbursed for parking in Manhattan.
Enough blather. I need to go study the reports.
Cheers...
