Shopping is the last thing I'd think of doing on the day after Thanksgiving. Sure, loads of places are offering sweet deals on various items, but it turns out that in a number of cases, the deals are so sweet that the companies offering them only have limited supplies on hand.

(And now, it would not be untoward for a personal Le Bret to interject something along the lines of "Speak loudly of your scorn for commercialism, but softly, say that you haven't any money to spend, tell me simply!)

The day went reasonably well. It started off on a sour note when my attempt to call the place in Hicksville where we dropped off the truck turned into a button-pushing frenzy (the phone number connects to the central Penske system) that ultimately revealed the place to be closed today and tomorrow. The sour note turned sweet when the missing keys turned up in the garage later in the day (I can just imagine my frustration upon learning the keys had not been left in the cab had I spoken to someone in Hicksville this morning).

In any event, I managed to translate 3,000 words by noon, whereupon Galina and I went for a slice of pizza at the Forest Pizzeria, after which I drove around a bit (hoping to familiarize Galina with some of the local roads). We stopped at a Glen Cove beach, where I again familiarized Shiloh with salt water, and then back home, where I managed to figure out how to get one of the blowers in the basement to run, but not for very long or very well.

I then vegged out in front of the tube and watched an episode and a half of Cold Case before returning to translation.

Which really isn't what happened, because the way I'm set up (in the dining room, for now), I'm prey to all sorts of interruptions; for a while, there, I wasn't sure I would be able to commit more than 100 words at a time to phosphor.

As it presently stands, I've done about 4,500 words, leaving about 3,000 words in the current document. I ought to be able to take care of them tomorrow, along with a slug of the second document.

The current document has terminology in common with the document I sent off Wednesday, and as I reviewed the earlier document in the course of today's work, I paled with discomfort, although I suppose it's probably fair to say that what I uncovered is far from being All That Bad™ (in fact, all but two items are simply an issue of improved subsequent knowledge on my part).

It's been a long day.

Cheers...
