Amazingly, a third item showed up, and it was probably do-able within the specified deadline, but the agency - a European one - decided I ought to work at a reduced rate, which was a major show-stopper. That, and the fact that they never actually send me the source files...
Now, I suppose, there might be any number of reasons why the client might have decided to reduce my usual rate. Two candidates that come to mind immediately are (i) the euro's strength against the dollar, and (ii) the job being larger than most, in excess of 10,000 source words. I suspect it may most likely be a combination of the two.
