Opening old wounds...
Apr. 19th, 2008 11:30 amI've been cleaning up stuff and ran across a notebook upon which cover I scrawled Thoughts of Chairman ME, lo, so many moons ago. Inside, a mishmash of scrawlings by a young man in the throes of first love.
After reading them, I weighed the question: Should they stay or go through the shredder?
I recall I once took what I thought were all of the letters from the associated correspondence and took them to the beach that I walk to now and again and burned them, in an attempt to bring my mind around to the finality of the relationship being over and it being time to move on (something that wouldn't happen for another 18 months, during which time I was probably the most pitiful of companions, which is to say: I didn't have any.)
So now, having taken a good, hard look at some of my scratchings from the period immediately preceding the relationship - and having shuddered at the thought of myself being equal parts giddy and clueless...
it's off to the shredder with them!
Cheers...
