After oversleeping and getting a late start on the French translation, I finally started to get some momentum going when the phone rang and I spent a long time talking to Galina.

There is a lot to talk about, considering the immovable nature of Drew and Shannon's wedding and the mandatory nature of our attendance given a background of the very apparent fact that the renovations in New York will not be completed by the time we must leave for Colorado.

Whereupon I returned to my computer only to find the Blue Screen of Death, and all my work to that point lost (as I had not yet saved my nascent file).

Grrr.

I've spent 7 minutes on one page, 27 minutes on another, just about an hour on this last one...

it's going to be hard to tell how long it might take to do 20 pages.

Remind me to never accept a French-English assignment while on the road!

Well, with one or two exceptions, the pages fell rather gracefully, yielding 2250 words over the past 5 hours.

If I do another 5 pages before quitting for the day, that'll put me that much further ahead of the game for some free time later this weekend.

On the other hand, it'd probably be a good idea to get some exercise, or grab a quick nap.

At least done translating!

The day's bag includes nearly 3800 words, and there are 19 pages left in the assignment.

I ought to be able to finish all outstanding material tomorrow, and who knows? It may not take me the whole day.

Earlier, I hopped over to the H-E-B store that's about 100 yards away (if one doesn't mind walking through a hedge) and picked up a salad. Despite the fact there's a kitchen in this room, I just don't feel like cooking, much. On the way back, I gave in to the urge to rent a DVD and got The Great Debaters from the corner Blockbuster, but it's too late to watch it tonight.

On a totally unrelated note, who would've thought that a book titled Windows Vista Annoyances would weigh in at over 600 pages?

On a totally apropos note, best wishes to LJ friends [livejournal.com profile] kitiara and [livejournal.com profile] abz6598, who tied the knot today. May you live long together, in love and harmony!

Cheers...

Fans of Joss Whedon's work (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Firefly) are apparently organizing a campaign to keep a new show, Dollhouse, from being cancelled.

The first episode of the show will air in 2009, by the way.

As a "browncoat," I can sorta see the point.

Cheers...
