Friday off...
May. 30th, 2008 11:02 pmThis kind of thing hardly ever happens during an interpreting gig, but it did today, for the first time in... I don't remember when.
I got up early - around 4 am - and at 5:45 am, walked to the Einstein bagel place and had a lox-and-cream-cheese bagel and some of their coffee, which is pretty good. I returned to the room and tried to go back to sleep, but that didn't work.
Around 9:30 am, I stopped by the bank and then went on to the Baybrook Mall to get a wristwatch battery changed. Places in New York had offered to do the job for "only" $50; this one fellow at Baybrook, whom I had bought a wristwatch from back in '98, did the job for $20.
While I waited for the battery swap, I browsed in the Apple store and rekindled a case of technolust, which will just have to wait.
I napped in the afternoon, accepted a short assignment for Sunday night, and then set off to go visit Natalie and have dinner.
I'm still not packed, but I figure that will take care of itself tomorrow morning, as I've extracted everything from all drawers, etc. All that's left to do is actually cram it into my luggage.
I am really looking forward to going home.
Cheers...
