No Water: Day Three...
Feb. 5th, 2009 07:11 pmOver three-quarters of the line leading from the street has been shown to not leak, but the excavator was not able to find the trench that was dug through the shale that surrounds the house, so we remain without water for yet another day. (We've taken advantage of some tests when the water was turned on at the street to fill buckets, pots, pans, etc., so it's not as if we've had no water, but it's certainly not been enough water.)
With the exception of pieces that'll have to be cut with a saw, all of the tiles that are going into my office have been put down. The floor looks good, even without the grout, etc. Now I have to figure out what kind of furniture to buy (when I get around to buying any furniture), as the stuff I have right now is going to look righteously awful in there once the refinishing work is done.
Synchronizing my BlackBerry with my laptop doesn't synchronize mail, which is something I had expected, so it's back to the drawing board to figure out how to send files via email from my laptop via my BB from outside the country. Failing that, I'm going to have to use whatever local Internet cafe I can find while on vacation.
I took on 4,000 source words earlier today, but between going through stuff in my office and dealing with the plumber and the guy laying tile, I am exhausted. I think I will get up early tomorrow and hit the assignment hard first thing.
Cheers...
