The blahs...
Feb. 17th, 2009 10:14 pmI royally dislike misplacing things, which means I go around in a sour mood from time to time, some times more intensely than others. Recently, I was starting to actually wonder about my mental state, as quite a number of items have seemingly gone missing for no reason.
Late this afternoon, some of them "came back" from just being there, so things are not so gloomy. But I still had "the blahs" for much of the day, and I must make sure that I've snapped out of that mode by tomorrow morning. After all, I do have two translations due to clients by the end of the day, and I owe some paperwork to various other folks, too.
The government's bloated wet-dream spending bill was signed today, and although the talking heads on the news shows spent a lot of time telling us who we should think the good guys and the bad guys are behind its passage, in the end, it boiled down to who traded what to whom over the old pork barrel, with due regard for political majorities and minorities.
As in the previous administration, the bill was written hurriedly, in the middle of the night, and not only were the American people not given an opportunity to review the bill for - depending on who you go with - 5 days or even 48 hours, but it's doubtful that any member of Congress read it, either, before voting on it.
Which is to say, business is proceeding as usual in D.C., only at a more accelerated pace. At least that's the only change I can see.
In any event, Exhibit A for the old saw about there not being a dime's worth of difference between Democrats and Republicans become law today.
Cheers...
