A nasty old feeling resurfaces...
May. 8th, 2009 08:29 pmOur first bad experience at the hands of a renter was back in Jacksonville, when a woman rented our house with a phony check, the fact of which took something like a month to come to light (leading me to believe she had an accomplice at the bank). And by the time she actually left, we were out another couple of months of rent (which is to say, we made four mortgage payments and never received a dime, actually incurring a loss owing to repairs having to be made to undo the damage the woman and her boyfriend did to the house before they did leave).
Then there was the guy who kept promising to pay, and never did, and who signed a promissory note to pay over time, and never did.
And I'm beginning to feel nervous about our New York tenant, who was supposed to cough up some dough on May 1 and writes polite emails as to why that hasn't happened yet.
Please let this bad feeling go away.
Cheers...
