Finally sick...
Jan. 17th, 2010 05:45 pmI first noticed the scratchy throat and eyes right after the carpet installers were through last Monday, but put it down to the new carpet, or possibly an allergy in the air. It seemed to get a little better when I got out of the house, but never really went away.
Mentally, I couldn't focus for very long on any one thing, which is not all that much different from an effect I once suffered after spreading insecticide granules outside the Friendswood house back when I worked in-house as an interpreter. That time, I experienced a degradation of my interpretation skills: words that I've known for years just wouldn't enter my mind while performing my job. It was annoyed when it happened and a little alarmed, too, when I stopped to wonder if whatever had been damaged had been damaged permanently. In the end, the effect was temporary.
Anyway, I'm thankful things were not busier this past week than they were. Yesterday, I experienced some classical intestinal distress. Today, the distress is gone, replaced by a really sore throat. Another data point to consider is my having skipped, for the second time in a week, an opportunity to post on LJ.
Natalie came by with some goodies and she, Galina, and I tried to have a nice afternoon and mostly succeeded. When Natalie left for home, I headed straight for bed.
I hope I'm on the getting-better side of the curve.
Cheers...
