I hadn't noticed it before...
Apr. 21st, 2010 11:34 pm...but there's a Motel 6 in Pecos, Texas, a couple of miles away from where, local legend has it, Roy Bean was "the law west of the Pecos."
The Garmin GPS unit turned out to be helpful during the day, enabling us to, for example, avoid a lot of stop-and-go around Carlbad. It also really underscores how fast you can let time get away from you if you get deviate from the calculated route.
For example, stopping by the Sam's Club in Santa Fe cost us nearly an hour of time. We lost another half hour in Roswell. By the time we entered Texas, via US 285, the hour added because of the difference between Mountain and Central time set the clock to around 10 pm, with another 90 miles left to Ft. Stockton.
I hope to get an early start tomorrow, but it's a half hour short of midnight, so it's problematic. So we'll just see how things turn out.
Cheers...
