Oxidizer loading, day 1...
May. 15th, 2010 11:54 amIt was a poor day to hit the snooze button on the alarm, because my radio came alive while I was putting myself together to make the 7 am bus to the integration facility. But everything came together in the end, and oxidizer loading is under way. Olga and I are alternating time between the interpreter's office and the control room downstairs. I'm scheduled to return to the control room in just a few minutes.
I most of the way through E.B. Sledge's With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa, which came highly recommended to me from two sources, and I have found it to be a compelling view, from the perspective of an enlisted Marine, of two of the costliest battles fought in the Pacific during World War II.
The campaign's Internet access seems to be steadier now, but it still goes away from time to time.
Time to go downstairs.
Cheers...
