Turning ten...

I'm surprised I even remembered, as time has a tendency to fly and there are more important things in life, but I created my LiveJournal account ten years ago today. In terms of Internet time, that's almost geological in scope!

According to my user profile, over this past decade, I've posted 5,911 journal entries, received 7,201 comments, and made 3,828 comments. (Not bragging, just recording data, though one can hope that a few of my entries have been worth reading!)

Here's looking forward to another ten!

Google abandons Windows 7...

According to an item at FT.com from the end of last month:

Google is phasing out the internal use of Microsoft’s ubiquitous Windows operating system because of security concerns, according to several Google employees.

[...]

“We’re not doing any more Windows. It is a security effort,” said one Google employee.

[...]

New hires are now given the option of using Apple’s Mac computers or PCs running the Linux operating system. “Linux is open source and we feel good about it,” said one employee. “Microsoft we don’t feel so good about.”

Wow. Just wow.
