Kowabunga!
Nov. 29th, 2010 03:12 pmMy system of moving project directories out of an "active" directory to a "completed" directory upon invoicing took something of a hit today when I inadvertently reinvoiced a client for work I've done previously. Apparently, I hadn't moved the directories back at mid-month during my previous session of berserker invoicing. There was no harm done, but the incident did get my attention.
Aside from mild embarrassment, the episode reduced my November billable amount by an amount that made a mediocre result look downright—borderline. So, when the opportunity came by this morning to snag some part of a document that had to be done by twelve minutes ago, come what may, I grabbed what I could and managed to complete almost 3300 words (with about 1000 of those "pre-translated") in about 3-1/2 hours.
And I can't tell which is more acute right now, my feeling of tiredness, or my feeling of hunger. No matter, as I've got about 2,400 words—due tomorrow—that came in while I was in "madman" mode.
Finishing both jobs and billing them by COB tomorrow won't save the day, but at least I'll be experiencing that all-important feeling of doing something! (As to how effective "doing something" may or may not be—well, the jury is still out. Sometimes it means something; other times, it doesn't.)
Cheers...
