I spent about three hours trying to sort through a bunch of files, and though my files are bit more organized now, I feel as if what I've done is a drop in the bucket.

My work files are pretty well tracked, at least the files directly related to jobs. Files more generally related are reasonably organized, but I became acutely aware, today, of just how difficult it is to find what I need when I need it. One of the more interesting ideas advanced during October's translation conference is the feasibility of scanning one's dead-tree library of references, thus making it searchable and portable, the idea being an extension of the ripping of a CD. If you own a book, then making a copy for your own use ought not cause the underwear of the copyright cops to become twisted.

Be that as it may, what are not so well organized are my photos and my music, mostly because they've been spread all over the place and, too, because of the sheer overall mass of said data overwhelms any one disk to hold them.

Theoretically, work starts anew tomorrow, and will officially commence with my dropping an email to the agency I did The Bid Edit™ for, which still owes me for one of my invoices. (Unless something comes in before I sit down at my computer, of course.)

Cheers...
