I had not noticed this before, but in digesting a PDF, the FineReader OCR application apparently processes each page fully before going on to the next page (as opposed to adding all the pages and then successively processing each page). The effective result of that was that when I interrupted the process yesterday because one of the settings was wrong, only 11 of 14 pages were added to the FineReader job, leaving me with three unanalyzed and un-OCRed pages.

(This is not the kind of thing you want to find out about while despeckling a job, but finding out about it now is a lot better than having a client call to ask about omitted pages, but I digress—)

The fates must be smiling on me, however, as the material on those last three pages basically summarize what was in the part of the document I did translate, so the missing material was handled expeditiously and there's no real harm done or any elevated blood pressure to contend with.

Still, it is something that could have had unpleasant consequences, and worth noting.
