New York, Day 4
Apr. 7th, 2011 09:52 pmI put the finishing touches on the job due today and sent it off, together with an invoice for work completed during the past couple of weeks. I am still ahead for the month, but if nothing comes in tomorrow, by Monday, I'll be back behind the eight-ball (but not very far behind).
The tenant—surprise!—still hasn't gotten everyhting out of the house, but at least the part that remains is confined (with the exception of the gas grill on the patio) to the garage. Galina and I spent some time after dinner downstairs, spreading our stuff out from the densely packed area that we had reserved when we rented the house.
Talking about dinner, we tracked down an Asian market (Super H Mart, at 400 Hillside Avenue in Williston Park) while we were out and about this afternoon, and they not only had natto, but also some very good salmon at a very reasonable price.
I still don't feel "relaxed" enough to do any serious thinking about anything not immediately related to getting the tenant out of the house and our stuff sorted into the two basic classifications of "keep" and "chuck." It does occur to me, however, that the one thing worse than being in a place where you don't know anybody is to be in a place where not only do you not know anybody, but you are constantly reminded of people you used to know, even if not very well.
