Galina and I have been touching base via video Skype, which makes it a bit easier to bear being separated, and today, I managed to finally get her laptop and mine linked via something called TeamViewer so that I could address a very annoying audio feedback problem. I don't know whether the solution will "stick," but I went into the Control Panel at the other end of the connection and reduced the microphone's sensitivity, and that seemed to do the trick.

I fell asleep around 9:30 pm last night and got a very good night's sleep until one of the cats woke me up. As I reached for my phone to see what time it was, I debated what time it was, mentally concluding that, since it was still pitch dark outside, it was still before 6 am. Maybe 5 am or thereabouts.

The phone displayed 23:47 and that hurt.

As I turned over to try to go back to sleep, my phone gave out my nearly inaudible (to me) incoming message tone, so just for laughs, I went to check my mail and found a note from a company that was interested in having me do some work. I went downstairs to reply and some emails went back and forth until about 1:30 am my time, at which time I went back to bed. Curiously (or maybe not), there was no response to my last email, which nailed down all of the terms and conditions for doing the work and ended with a request for a P.O.

Ah, well. If I get the job, I get the job. No biggie.

I looked over some of my late mother's letters to her pen pal Therèse, who lived in Bourges, France. Their correspondence dates from the 1930s and I would imagine that, if the two young women were of the same age, Therèse would be either a nonagenarian or (more likely, I think) pushing up daisies.

After a three weeks of missed conversations, I plan to speak with my French "Skype pal" tomorrow morning, and may try to ask some questions about making inquiries regarding Therèse's fate.

I ran across an interesting quote from Bruce Lee today:
There are no limits. There are plateaus, but you must not stay there, you must go beyond them. If it kills you, it kills you.
A couple of places on the 'net have the quote sans the last sentence, which speaks for itself, but I digress...

I must admit, I haven't thought all that much about plateaus.

Cheers...
