At the Medici Fountain...
Jul. 17th, 2011 11:48 amI first visited the Medici Fountain in the Luxembourg Gardens in Paris in November 1976, and I had all but forgotten of its existence until this past June, while again walking through those gardens. As I wandered aimlessly within, it was as if something was pulling me in a certain direction, until I became conscious of all the statuary in the park and began to actively seek out the fountain again. I had only a hazy idea of where the fountain was located, but my feet knew the way.
When I again stood close to Acis and Galatea - the lovers who are the focus of the fountain's art - and as I fired up my camera to recapture a black-and-white image I took with a film camera so many years ago, the thought crossed my mind that possibly, I had wasted about half a lifetime by leaving Paris and not returning until that moment. It was a fleeting thought, and not worth pursuing, as the past cannot be changed.
But the photo was worth taking.

Cheers...
