The idea of spreading a large assignment out—a couple of thousand words per day—over a long time works well in theory. And while it is pure murder on habitual procrastinators (this kind of work ain't like writing papers the night before they're due), things can have a way of turning ugly if you don't keep your eye on the gauge.

Things are not as bad as I make them out to be, because I've built almost three days of despeckling into the schedule (where I probably need less than one), but I'm putting that buffer out of my mind until and unless I really need to use it.

The bottom line is that I'm managing to get done what needs doing, though there's precious little time for much else.
