A little bit of everything...
Oct. 1st, 2011 08:22 pmI got about 3/4 of one translation done today. The rest of what needs to be done ought to be easily taken care of tomorrow.
Between bouts of translation industriousness, I baked some bread and got Windows Home Server 2011 to behave. It turned out the "backup incomplete" I kept getting from WHS had to do with the fact that I had disconnected an external drive from my work machine, which thus could not be found, resulting in an "incomplete" backup. It was easy enough to reconfigure the backup to ignore the no-longer-connected drive, but I wonder to what extent I'm actually "backed up" (a lot of backups define themselves in terms of data files, not system files). Another to-do research item.
In terms of remote access, it turns out one can either go with a name like xxx.homeserver.com or buy/transfer a domain name managed by GoDaddy and some company I never heard of, but of equally stellar reputation. I finally figured out a way to do what I wanted, though.
Toward the late afternoon, we went over to the kids' house to say hello and ended up staying for dinner. Mathew was a real chatterbox, especially when it came to listing potentialitems of loot presents on the occasion of his upcoming birthday.
Cheers...
