At 7 am this morning, I called a company to get a password reset, spent 10 minutes with one customer service rep, then another 10 minutes with the one the first one sent me to because it wasn't the first one's department. Then the second one told me I'd have to be transferred to a third department, which would be able to help me, and would I please hold?

I replied in the affirmative, was given a 30-second spiel about how important customer service was to the company wished a good day, and transferred...

...to an office that was in the Pacific time zone, behind me, and not yet open. A mechanical voice invited me to call again later.

Never relax! Don't be lulled by an energetic voice! Always, always, always ask for the direct number to call "in case I get disconnected."

Or something.

Grrr.

This past weekend, Galina and I talked our way into spending the better part of today with the grandkids, so today, we all piled into a car and fled to Durango.

We had a pretty good time, Galina and I spoiled the grandkids modestly, and by the time we got back, Galina and I were pretty tired. We napped for much too long, whereupon I started in on today's slug of work.

I've gotten a decent amount of work done, but all of it has been the ongoing assignments that haven't been factored into the other jobs at hand. As a result, I am coming to the conclusion that I have overcommitted my time over the near future, and will probably have to put in some serious hours (or exhibit some serious productivity, which is a different way of saying the same thing) to get everything done on time.

We've don't that before. It's not fun, but it can be done.

Cheers...
