Pros and cons...

The long-term project I'm working on turns out to be a collection of papers on the same subject, written (or co-written) by the same author. Of the six articles in the job, I've started work on three, but have not completed any of them yet.

There is an advantage to this approach, or at least there seems to be. A lot of the material in the various articles is repetitive, albeit not in the translation memory sense of "similar or identical sentences." What's happening here is that the same concepts are explained a little differently each time, which makes it easier to more thoroughly understand what's being discussed.

The disadvantage I'm coming up against, and in the end, it may not make much of a difference during my review, is that my list of terms to disambiguate seems longer than it usually is at this stage of the work and the material that must be reviewed for disambiguation is larger in scope (more things to look for in more files, which will involve a lot of looking for stuff that turns out not to be there).

In other news, the end client is meeting with counterparts nine hours in front of me, and word arrived yesterday to be ready to process One More Iteration of document revisions. The waiting is taking its toll.

In the meantime, I shall commence translating the fourth article.
