Movement, but not enough...
Oct. 7th, 2012 10:04 pmI got a pretty good day's work in between this and that, so what I don't need to do is beat myself up for not getting more done.
Among the "this and that" has been more television viewing than I've done in a long time.
The Three Musketeers (and since the theme is reused about every 20 years or so, I suppose I should mention I'm talking about the 1993 version) started off my jag of sitzfleisch, and I found it curious how the faces of Chris O'Donnell and Gabrielle Anwar jumped out at me (obviously because of NCIS: Los Angeles and Burn Notice), though not without a bit of by-golly-that-face-is-familiar-who-is-that-fellow in O'Donnell's case.
I don't know how your head works, but there are a number of actors whose appearance in stuff they did before something caused me to pay attention (e.g., Stana Katic, who's now known for Castle, playing a small part in Quantum of Solace) just never really registered, so it's something of a treat to keep my eyes open when watching older movies to catch sight of actors who have since become easily recognizable.
Late yesterday afternoon, Galina and I watched Cowboys and Aliens, which I thought was a lot of fun, and earlier this evening, we watched Congo and The Running Man.
All that viewing honestly didn't take any time away from translation. I've been tapping the keyboard so hard, I'm getting calluses on my fingertip calluses.
In other news, an interesting take on "How to Write a Thriller," by a certain Ian Fleming appears at Diane Duane's blog (along with a link to an annotated version), and I found out—the hard way—that by default, Ubuntu cleans the /tmp subdirectory upon reboot. (So much for following installation instructions that say to install software to that directory.)
Phase 1 of Project AE got kicked off today. More news as progress develops.
Tomorrow starts another week. Yikes.
Cheers...
