We never got too many trick-or-treaters in Colorado—or any at all, that I can remember, since getting to our place is involves more of a determined trek than a casual walk, and while the idea of walking around the neighborhood with one's kids is alive and well in the more populated parts of town, the idea of chauffeuring the offspring to various other parts of the county, if it exists at all, likely applies to more densely populated subdivisions.

Here, given the density of the Halloween symbology strewn here and there around our area (headstones, pumpkins, you name it), it was a cinch that we could expect some kids to come a'knocking, so we bought a large bag of candy. So I decided to enjoy the evening, and deployed my Bela Lugosi accent (nobody knows who Bela Lugosi was there days) and adapted some of the ridiculous magic patter I remembered from yesteryear for the occasion (don't ask). Almost the entire bag was distributed.

I managed to clear the decks of work and complete all my invoicing, including a monster invoice for my best client. Then I went shopping, and found that there is something called the "Dr. Oz effect." Apparently, Dr. Oz—who has a popular medical show that's broadcast in the afternoon—recently said something on the air about how piƱon nuts act like an appetite suppressant, and as a result, you cannot presently find such nuts (aka, pine nuts) on sale around here, at least until stocks are replenished. I wish I had that kind of clout. :^)

Cheers...
