Pressing on...
Jan. 4th, 2013 08:06 pmArose at 6 am, full of vim and vitality, and then spent the rest of the day translating and struggling to stay awake.
Made it, too.
The current article has had me hitting the Ozhegov dictionary on my bookshelf. On the one hand, the author's command of vocabulary appears to be rather good, but he also has this habit. Of expressing himself in fragments. In snippets. In incomplete sentences. Sentences that often have no verb. That are wholly ungrammatical. Or something like that. Fragments, actually.
And it is driving me nuts. (Which happens to be the punch line to a really great pirate joke! But I digress...)
Galina and I visited a number of places in the afternoon, including Home Depot (for some unglazed quarry tile, which they no longer carry... bummer!) and a gas station, to fill up the Infiniti. The pre-election dip in gas prices appears to have evaporated, but we'll make it by, somehow.
Cheers...
