Here and there...
Mar. 5th, 2013 11:15 pmI managed to get a decent chunk of work done this morning by the time Galina decided to cook a late breakfast that included waffles (home-made batter) and whipped cream (made by, uh, whipping cream). Immediately afterward, I felt obligated to go for a walk with Shiloh, and as Galina was on her way outbound to do some window-shopping, I had her drop us off at the bank, which is about three miles away.
It was not that ambitious a walk, but a strong, steady wind blowing in our face made it quite unpleasant, so I asked Galina to stop and pick us up as she was returning (which she did, about a mile short of the house).
I've now signed up for three t'ai chi lessons per week, and tonight's lesson was the second of two nights in a row. I'm getting a pretty good workout, I must say, and I am learning a lot from being on the "receiving end" of having my structure (or more typically, the lack thereof) exploited to an opponent's advantage. This may be what was meant in an essay I read recently, to the effect that "investing in loss" may eventually result in skill at "listening" to strength (t'ing chin) and eventually, to "interpreting" strength (tung chin).
Cheers...
