I'm not complaining...
Sep. 19th, 2013 10:44 pmBut somehow, it was uncanny how about 5,000 new source words of work landed on my plate within moments of actually having taken care of all the items that had been there (as well as new items that arrived today).
Sleep came very slowly last night, I think because of the ambient temperature in the house. The short night gave me an excuse to try to nap this afternoon, with mixed results.
Various miscellaneous thoughts have popped up now and again about the imminent departure of Cote de Pablo from the NCIS television series. Some concern the actual departure. As far as I've read, the official line is that the actress is leaving of her own volition, despite having been serenaded by an offer of a lot of money, and then an offer of a lot more money. Somehow, this does not seem quite right to me, but it's hard to pin down a reason.
Of course, the official line might be entirely true, and de Pablo's interests now lie elsewhere. But it may also be that she's been dumped (official line notwithstanding, I know of people who were "encouraged" to say they had quit their job, in the sense that a rather large sum of money hung in the balance), which raises the question of: Why? I cannot believe it's because her character is not popular with viewers, not to mention the ongoing arc involving a whole lot of unresolved tension with Tony DiNozzo (which, frankly, I would think would keep interest in the series at a high level).
Another aspect has to do with who is going to replace her. From what I've read, the idea is to find a female twenty-something to fill Ziva's shoes, but the problem with that, in my opinion, is that most twenty-somethings are a little short in the experience and judgment department, which would almost necessarily make the replacement the junior team member, and is Gibbs' team really going to benefit from something like that?
I guess the new season will inform us as it unfolds.
