Hot on the trail?
Oct. 15th, 2013 02:47 pmI believe my hypothesis of a few days ago—that the source of my computer problem was software I had installed from TRENDnet—is not quite right, but not all wrong, either.
The problem I continue to experience (even after having now uninstalled TRENDnet) is a seemingly random failure of applications to start using a mouse (either double-clicking the app or one of its associated files), with subsequent failure to restart or shut down, requiring a hard shutdown.
Except the failure is no longer seemingly random. When it has occurred over the past couple of days, it has done so immediately after I've sent something to the printer. (Which is to say that not every attempt to print something causes the problem to appear, but most such attempts do.)
I suspect a printer driver problem. The trick now is to find a suitable driver and install it over whatever is there now.
Cheers...
UPDATE: New Windows 8 64-bit drivers installed. Not feeling the urge to print right now, though.
