Getting a fire lit...
Jul. 2nd, 2014 09:09 pmGetting a fire lit today was a bit difficult, seeing as how I could not fall asleep last night, doing so only some time after 2 am. And despite managing to "sleep in" until 8 am or so, most of the day felt as if I was going through the motions.
It was a good thing that I had built up something of a backlog of completed translations. This kind of backlog occurs when several jobs arrive at the same time, comprising documents of similar format and content. I prefer to work such assignments on a document-by-document basis—doing all of the invoices, for example, from all the jobs, followed by all completion certificates, and so on—rather than working assignment-by-assignment, processing all the different documents in a job.
I say it was a good thing because despite my lackluster mood, I managed to finish the three jobs on my plate and take care of one of the four new jobs that landed on my plate mid-morning.
The new monitor setup is working out quite nicely. The large portrait montor is particularly well suited to viewing Windows Explorer folder windows, because I find I don't have to scroll them as often or as much when scrolling is required. The DisplayFusion program I bought a few days ago is also working out very well, as I now have pretty fine-grained control over where various windows appear and what size they assume in said positions.
Cheers...
