I hadn't quite planned...
Aug. 29th, 2014 06:06 pm...on spending six hours trying to straighten out the operation (or, rather, non-operation) of Office 365 on buckley, but hey!... I've used Word for over a quarter of a century. I should know better.
The whole thing started upon firing up Word this morning, when I was informed that my installation of the application would cease to work next Tuesday, which is not really an acceptable situation. An attempt to "activate" my installation bought me nothing but a "Sorry, there's a temporary server issue" message that, apparently, is all the rage among some Office users these days.
An attempt to repair my installation failed spectacularly, leaving me with a machine that would neither run nor repair nor uninstall the application suite, at least not until I managed to stumble across a Microsoft executable that nukes it right off the hard drive. Reinstalling (cue the line about doing the same thing and expecting a different result) basically brought me to where I was before this morning's disturbing message came up.
* * * I received a heads-up recently, of documents that are supposed to be forthcoming for translation. A whole flock of them was supposed to alight in my inbox today, but that didn't happen (though a couple of jobs did dribble in, allowing me to "make my nut" for the day).
I don't know whether to spit or wind my watch. I suppose I should just count my blessings.
One thing is for sure... I've had enough computing for the day.
Cheers...
