Pardon while I milk this theme...
Jan. 3rd, 2015 11:05 pmIt has rained every blessed day so far this year. The ground is soaked. Enough, already.
Last night's rain was loud enough to wake both me and Galina, and the thunder and lightning helped keep us awake.
Once everyone was up, I continued the office move, setting up the printer and scanner and the library table. As before, my desk is set up for working while standing (although I have a suitable stool upon which I can sit, because standing for long periods of time has a tendency to tucker me out). The library table is set up for the more traditional sitting-in-a-chair configuration.
I even managed to clear off the surface of the bridge table—a temporary expedient to be used for special occasions, such as moving my office or doing a little chess analysis—which had accumulated a rather impressive collection of miscellaneous papers and crap over the course of the past two days.
I'm still a long way from finished. The books that had been put on shelves were removed again so we could move the shelves over by about a half a foot. I hope to get most of the books back on the shelves tomorrow, which is going to be a busy day in any event in preparation for Monday and the second week of the year. (The cognoscenti will, of course, recall that the first week of any year is (according to ISO 8601) the week with the year's first Thursday.) How time flies, eh?
Cheers...
